Chronic Inflammation: A Healing Reflection Worksheet

A reflection to soften internal fire by listening to emotional patterns like stored anger or internalized urgency.

Chronic inflammation occurs when the body’s immune response stays activated over time, creating ongoing stress, pain, and tissue sensitivity. While there are biological causes, it can also mirror deeper emotional patterns—such as stored anger, suppressed frustration, or internalized urgency. Inflammation may arise when the body is trying to defend itself long after the original threat is gone. It can be a sign of the body staying in “alert mode”, even when rest and healing are needed. This worksheet invites you to soften that internal fire—not by fixing, but by listening.

Step 1: Centering Awareness

Sit or lie comfortably. Place one hand on a part of the body that feels inflamed or tender. Ask yourself: What part of me feels like it’s under constant threat? What unspoken emotions might still be burning inside me? Where in my life am I “on fire” emotionally?

  • Write what arises:

Step 2: Let the Inflammation Speak

Step 4: Reflection Prompt

Choose one to explore: What emotional fire am I still holding onto? Where in my life do I need to cool down, pause, or forgive? What would it feel like to allow more peace into my system?
